Shaikh Al-Wagga', of Al-Jubour tribe wounded in a suicidal attack in
Al-Gayyara Shaikh Abdul Razaaq Mujbil Al-Wagga', one of the Al-Jubour Shaikhs in Nineveh Governorate was wounded with his wife and her sister by a car-bomb (tank) driven by a suicidal bomber near his home in Al-Hood village, 50Km south of Mosul. One person was killed and 25 others wounded in the attack. Shaikh Al-Qagga' was a high ranked officer in the old Iraq Army and he became the leader of Al-Sahwa (Awakining) forces who switched from fighting against the US forces to fight against Al-Qaida. These militias were formed and funded by the US Army in 2007 to combat Al-Qaida. Their fighters were among the first Sunni and Tribal insurgents. |

Truck bomb wounds at least 15 near Mosul, Iraq By SAMEER N. YACOUB – 2 hours ago BAGHDAD (AP) — Hospital officials say a truck bomb has wounded at least 15 people near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. Local police say the bomb was planted near the house of a Sunni sheik, Abdul-Razaq al-Waqaa, who had turned against al-Qaida. Police say 40 people were wounded in the blast near al-Qayarra, 40 miles south of Mosul, including al-Waqaa and his wife. The reason for the discrepancy in the number of wounded was not immediately clear. Police say three houses collapsed in the bombing, and seven others were damaged. Authorities are searching through the rubble for those wounded or killed in the attack. Police and hospital officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. |

One killed and 30 more wounded in a car bomb in Al-Majmou'a
Althaqafiya (Educational Complex) in Mosul An official source in Nineveh Police announced that 13 persons were killed and wounded in an explosion of a car bomb in Al-Majmou'a Al-thaqafiya area in Mosul (Mosul's left bank, Mosul University district) this Monday afternoon. The explosion took place a short while after a police patrol unit went past the area. Non of the patrol personnel were injured. Nineveh Governorate has witnessed a security operation since the 10th May named as the Lions Roar Operation which later changed to Om Al-Rabi'ain Operation. |
