One of the flagships of Iraq, the Chaldean Bishop of Mosul, Paulos Faraj Rahhowho was brutally murdered after being kidnapped by terrorists in his home town of Mosul while leaving a local church having finished celebrating the Rite of the via Crucis.

The Archbishop was deeply admired and loved by his flock, the Chaldean Catholic community of Iraq. His devotion to God was matched only by his dedication to the faithful who are suffering increasing persecution in Iraq. His death came as a shock for Iraqis, both Christians and Muslims and all Iraqis. His kidnapping and brutal murder was considered by as an offence against the values held dear by all faiths and seculars not only in Mosul and Iraq but by the whole world.

Archbishop Rahho was an example of dedication to his principle. He refused the offer to save his life by paying a ransom. In a a true sense Archbishp Rahho was a martyr and in Christianity term he was a saint.
