It was with shock and very great sadness that we heard of a the brutal murder of the Chaldean Bishop of Mosul, Paulos Faraj Rahho. Archbishop Rahho was kidnapped by terrorists in his home town of Mosul while leaving a local church having finished celebrating the Rite of the via Crucis.

The Archbishop was deeply admired and loved by his flock, the Chaldean Catholic community of Iraq. His devotion to God was matched only by his dedication to the faithful who are suffering increasing persecution in Iraq. 

His sad death comes as a shock for Iraqis, both Christians and Muslims.

We at Action 4 Mosul group are deeply disheartened by this senseless killing. We feel that his kidnapping and brutal murder is an offense against God and the values held dear in by both Christianity and Islam.

Our sincere condolences are offered to his family, friends and to all who knew him.
