Why Action 4 Mosul

Action for Mosul is Action for Iraq

Iraq is facing an increasing deterioration in all aspects of life; our towns and villages are now below the basic requirements for civilized life. Politics have failed miserably. It is high time for we professionals and intellectuals to put ourselves forward to try to counteract this tragic situation. Our moral and humanitarian duty is to find an alternative which will ease the suffering of our people and lay the foundation for a grassroots approach away from political influence.

A more workable strategy would be for people of each town / city / village to work for the good and heritage of their own area. This is not only more manageable and realistic than an Iraq wide approach; it also voids the ‘one model fits all’ method which has always been shown everywhere to be unworkable.

What we should be aiming for is a system by which each community is responsible for their own planning to ensure commitment through a sense of personal/community ownership. Such ‘action for my town’ groups could then coordinate with each other and eventually work under one umbrella for an effective action for all Iraq. Such a strategy would ensure a unity of purpose coming from the grassroots and be a model of genuine local democracy.
