In mosul irrigation is believed by some to have been developed nearly twelve thousand years ago. The nearby golden temples at hatra were built at the same time as Petra: 'Rose red city, half as old as time.' The winged bulls - humanity's heritage, which guard the palace at Nimrud; archeological pearls abound, strewn before the occupation-born swine. The imagination of the inspired thrown aside with the people whose forbears gifted the world with beauty, academia and that we call civilization.  

Under the West's watch, their descendents are disenfranchised, slaughtered, kidnapped, raped, displaced, degraded.    

Am I emotional, as sometimes accused? You bet I am. Just when it seems our shame can be plumbed no deeper another horror in the name of those chilling, nauseating words :'freedom and democracy' - which should be banned forthwith from dictionaries, speech and school books - rears its head. That two headed monster, 'Freedom and Democracy' seems to translate directly into state or state condoned terrorism.

Dipping through the Tropics by the palm-green shores,

Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack,
Butting through the Channel in the mad March days,
With a cargo of Tyne coal,
Road-rails, pig-lead,
Firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays.

سفن بمجاديف عظيمة تنطلق من أوفير البعيدة، محملة بالعاج والقرود والطواويس، مشحونة بخشب الصندل والأرز، وبخمر أبيض عذب المذاق¡­ تيمم وجهها شطر الجنة في فلسطين المشمسة.( جون مانسفيلد، 1878).

 في الموصل، طُور نظام الري، كما يعتقد البعض منذ 12 ألف سنة تقريباً. المعابد المذهبة القريبة في هترا، التي شيدت في الوقت الذي بنيت فيه بترا، المدينة الوردية، تبلغ من العمر نصف عمر الزمان. الإرث الإنساني من الثيران المجنحة التي تحرس القصر في نمرود، لآلئ أثرية غنية أين منها الخنازير التي جاء بها الاحتلال. خيالات الملهمين طرحت جانباً مع الناس الذين وهبوا العالم العلم والجمال، وكل ما ندعوه بالحضارة. وعلى مسمع من الغرب وتحت نظره فأحفاد أولئك، يسلبون الحقوق، يذبحون، يخطفون، يغتصبون، يهجرون ويحقرون.

 هل أنا عاطفية كما أتهم أحياناً؟ نعم أراهنك أني كذلك. وفي الوقت الذي يبدو فيه أن عارنا قد بلغ الدرك الأسفل، شيء مرعب آخر يكشر عن أسنانه باسم الحرية والديمقراطية، الكلمتان المقيئتان اللتان يجب إلغاءهما من المعاجم والخطب وكتب التدريس، فهما رأسان لوحش يمثل إرهاب الدولة أو الإرهاب المسموح به.
