Managing Director of Al-Mejd Satellite Channel escapes assassination
Mr Mousa Mohamed Abdul Mun'im, Managing Director of Al-Mejd Satellite TV Channel and a Member in the Muslims Scholars Association,  escaped today an assassination attempt by unknown gunmen today 1/7/2007. The gunmen fired at him using automatic machine guns in Al-Sinaa' district, in the north east of Mosul. Mr Mun'im was wounded according to an official source.

Three women murdered in Mosul today 29/6/2007 (INA)
According to a source in Nineveh Police, 3 women were murdered in Mosul today in two separate incidents. In the first incident, Laila Abbas and Labina Abbas were killed by gunmen who forced entry to a house belongs to a relative of the victims in Al-Mithaq district, Mosul left bank. The other murder took place in Al-Mosul Al-Jadida district, south part of Mosul, where another woman called Najat Kareem was assassinated, again by unknown gunmen

Received from Baghdad
Professor Dr Nihad Al-Rawi, Assistant to the President of Baghdad University was assassinated at 2.00pm Tuesday 26/6/2007 whilst on his way back home by militia men. The murder took place on Al-Jadriya Bridge, Baghdad and he was accompanied by his daughter Rana. Rana's clothes became covered with her father's blood. He will be buried tomorrow morning (Wednesday).

According to an offical source, one gunmen was killed and two more arrested this afternoon follwoing clashes between the police and gunmen in Mosul Al-Jadida, west of Mosul.

A mortar missile targeting the Pesh Mega militia fell on Eden district wounding 3 civilians.

Iraqi Army blew up a car bomb today 28/6/2007 in Al-Arabi district, of Mosul according to eye witnesses. The car was parked on the side of the road. The damages were material only.

A load explosion was hear in Mosul but its source is unknown.

Armed confrontation were reported between gunmen and the police today in Al-Tahreer district, north of Mosul. Information of the casualties are not available yet.

Sacking 10 employees from Nineveh Television
The contracts of 10 employees at Iraqi Nineveh Television Station with an immediate effect from today 28/6/2007 was announced by an official spokesman from the Station. The reason behind this decision was not been made public.

Another surgeon kidnapped in Mosul
According to eye witnesses, unknown gunmen kidnapped Dr Daniel Zayya, one of the most prominent surgeons in Mosul today. He was forced out his house in Al-Arabi district, left bank of Mosul. De Zayya was made retired before the occupation.

Three bodies found in Mosul today Wednesday 27/6/2007
Iraqi police found today 3 bodies killed by fire arms in different parts of Mosul. Two of the bodies belonged to young Christian men who were members in Bein Al-Nahrain (Mesopotamia) Movement in Al-Zuhoor district and the other was unidentified and was found in Al-Muthanna district according to the source.

Iraqi Army diffuses a one and a half ton explosive device in Tellaafer.
General Khorsheed AL-Dosaki, Commander of the Third Iraqi Army Division announced that a party from the Division diffused an explosive device which weighed 1500Kg was planted on the side of Al-Mahalabiya-Tellaafer highway, Nineveh. The explosives were inside 6 Oxygen containers and were linked to a digital camera. The device was of a very high technological specifications that can be triggered by magnetic vibrations after the the picture being analyzed by the device and he added that it is the first of its kind that has been found yet. He suggested that the device could have been made in Syria.

قوات الجيش في تلعفر تبطل مفعول عبوة ناسفة زنة طن ونصف
صرح اللواء خورشيد الدوسكي قائد الفرقة الثالثة التابعة للجيش العراقي أن فريق المعالجة التابع للفرقة تمكن من أبطال مفعول عبوة ناسفة زنة 1500 كغم (طن ونصف) كانت موضوعة على جانب الطريق الذي يربط بين المحلبية وتلعفر موضحا أن العبوة كانت موضوعة داخل 6 حاويات لغاز أوكسجين ومثبت عليها كاميرا رقمية حديثة مضيفا أن العبوة تنفجر على الذبذبات المغناطيسية بعد تحليل صورة الهدف وبين الدوسكي ان هذه العبوة تعد من أحدث التقنيات التي يستخدمها المسلحون وهي الأولى من نوعها وبعض أجزائها يدل على أن صناعتها سورية

US forces kills a civilian in his home in Mosul.
The US forces killed Fares Salem aged 51 years at his home in Al-Qadisiya Al-Thaniya, east of Mosul today. The Army raided his house and separated him from his family then shot him dead.

A student murdered in Mosul.
Imad Hamdi, a student at the Faculty of Engineering, Mosul University from Kerkuk, was murdered by unknown gunmen in Al-Thawra district this morning Tuesday 26/6/2007.

Nobel Peace Laureates Oppose Iraqi Oil Law Imposition
In the past few weeks, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and the chief U.S. commander in the Mideast, Admiral William Fallon, have all traveled to Baghdad to press Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki to pass a controversial oil law.
Five Nobel Peace Prize laureates have just released a statement against the U.S. pressure on the Iraqi government.

The Nobel Peace Prize Laureates – Betty Williams, Mairead Corrigan Maguire, Jody Williams, Shirin Ebadi and Wangari Maathai -- have released the statement in opposition to the Iraq Oil Law and U.S. pressure on the Iraqi government to pass the law, which favors foreign companies.

The Laureates' statement is as follows:
"In support of the people of Iraq , we the undersigned Nobel Peace Prize Laureates state our opposition to the Iraq Oil Law. We also oppose the decision of the United States government to require that the Iraq government pass the Oil Law as a condition of continued reconstruction aid in legislation passed on May 24, 2007 . A law with the potential to so radically transform the basic economic security of the people of Iraq should not be forced on Iraq while it is under occupation and in such a weak negotiating position vis-à-vis both the U.S. government and foreign oil corporations. The Iraq Oil Law could benefit foreign oil companies at the expense of the Iraqi people, deny the Iraqi people economic security, create greater instability, and move the country further away from peace. The U.S. government should leave the matter of how Iraq will address the future of its oil system to the Iraqi people to be dealt with at a time when they are free from occupation and more able to engage in truly democratic decision-making. It is immoral and illegal to use war and invasion as mechanisms for robbing a people of their vital natural resources."

علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون من شهود عيان بان القوات الأمريكية قامت بقتل فارس سالم (51سنة) داخل داره في حي القادسية الثانية شرق الموصل عندما قامت بعزله عن أفراد عائلته وإطلاق النار عليه في إحدى غرف الدار ولم تعرف اسباب القتل.على صعيد متصل قتل عماد حمدي وهو طالب في كلية الهندسة/جامعة الموصل على ايدي مسلحين مجهولين في حي الثورة غربي الموصل صباح اليوم الثلاثاء 26 حزيران وهو من اهالي كركوك.

According to Nineveh Police, US Army helicopters shelled this Al-Mattahin districts, west side of Mosul today. One civilians was killed and another one injured in the shelling. The reason behind the the shelling is not known

Four bodies received by Forensic pathology in Mosul
An official spokesman from the Hospital of Forensic Pathology in Mosul stated that 4 unidentified bodies were received by the hospital today 25/6/2007. 

Mortars fall on Al-Ba'aaj Borough, Nineveh.
The Sub-Governor of Al-Ba'aj Borough stated to INA that 15 mortars fell on the borough today 25/6/2007 causing material damages only. The shells had the Arabic letters which can be read a Syrian Arab Republic.

According to eye witnesses, a military unit led by an officer in the rank of colonel arrested today a secondary school student from Al-Risala Secondary School in after in Al-Muthanna district, in Mosul's left bank. The student had just finished his exams.

صرح مصدر في شرطة نينوى لمراسل وكالة أنباء عراقيون أن مروحيات جيش الأحتلال الأمريكي قصفت اليوم الأثنين 25/6 حي المطاحن غرب مدينة الموصل وأسفر القصف عن مقتل مدني وجرح أخر دون معرفة أسباب الحادث.

وعلى صعيد متصل علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون من شهود عيان بقيام مسلحين مجهولين يستقلون بحدود 25-30 سيارة مختلفة الأنواع ومحملة بأسلحة متنوعة بأستعراض للقوة في مناطق حي النور والقادسية والتحرير وأضاف الشهود أن المسلحين كانوا يهتفون بهتافات دينية.

وكذلك علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون من مصدر في مستشفى الطب العدلي الموصل بأستلام المستشفى لأربع جثث اليوم الأثنين 25/6 وأضاف المصدر أن الجثث الأربعة مجهولة الهوية.

وصرح قائمقام قضاء البعاج لمراسل وكالة أنباء عراقيون بأن خمسة عشر قذيفة هاون سقطت على القضاء اليوم الأثنين 25/6 مما أدى إلى أضرار مادية فقط ولكنه أضاف بأن القذائف الفارغة وجد مكتوباً عليها ج.س.ع. أي جمهورية سوريا العربية.

Assassination of the Representative of the Local Government 
The representative of the Local Government Programme in the Northern Region in Nineveh Governorate Council, Mr Hameed Zaynel, was assassinated this morning by unknown gunmen today in Al-Ta'meem district, east of City of Mosul.

Three bodies found in Mosul
Three unidentified bodies were found today in different locations in Nineveh.

Discovery of six workshops for the production of car bombs in Mosul.
Joint force from the US and Iraqi armies raided  the industrial region on the left bank of Mosul and found 6 workshops for installing car bombs with two cars already loaded in one of them, according to an official source.

Police officer killed and blowing up an industrial garage.
An official source in Nineveh Police stated today that a policeman was killed and 2 others injured today 23/6/2007. They were targeted and shot at upon their departure from their place of work in Al-Ba'aj Borough, west of Mosul and near the Syrian borders.

In another incident, eyewitnesses and official sources in the Iraqi Army that units form the US Army sealed the areas around a large garage suspected to be an arms and ammunitions depot. The garage was blown up after instructing residents in the surrounding buildings to vacate thier houses.

علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون من شهود عيان بأن قوة من جيش الاحتلال قامت بحرق سيارة تعود لمسلحين مجهولين اليوم الجمعة 22/6 في حي الشهداء في الجانب الأيسر من مدينة الموصل وأضاف الشهود أن هذه القوة أحرقت السيارة على اثر إشتباكات مسلحة بين قوات الجيش العراقي ومسلحين مجهولين وأن أربعة من المسلحين كانوا بداخل السيارة أثناء عملية حرقها .

Three bodies found and Five civilians injured
According to a source fin Nineveh Police, that the Police found bodies of 3 brothers today 18/6/2007 in Al-Thawra district, west of the City of Mosul. All had been killed by bullets in the head and chest.

The same source also informed INA that 5 civilians were wounded today 18/6/2007 as a result violence in different parts of the City of Mosul. Among the wounded was a female child with her mother.

According to eye witnesses unknown gunmen drove out the residents from their house in 17th Tammouze district, left bank of Mosul and then blew up the house. A similar incident was also reported today in Al-Tahreer district, also on the left bank of Mosul and blew up their houses.

Fr Ragheed Ganni: Up-and-coming Chaldean priest

Ragheed Aziz Ganni, priest: born Mosul, Iraq 20 January 1972; ordained priest 2001; died Mosul 3 June 2007. 

Ragheed Ganni, a Chaldean Catholic priest, had just finished celebrating Sunday evening Mass in the Holy Spirit parish in the northern Iraqi town of Mosul when gunmen stopped his car. Before opening fire on him and his three deacons (one of them his cousin), the killers demanded their conversion to Islam. They then shot the four repeatedly.

Although the first Catholic priest to be killed since 2003, Ganni was by no means the first Christian leader in Iraq to be targeted for execution. As the Islamist intolerance of Christians rose steadily in recent years and months, Ganni had several times been on the receiving end of threats and attacks. His church had most recently been bombed on 27 May. The three deacons had decided to accompany him to and from his church in a vain attempt to protect him.

Highly educated, well-travelled and just 35, Ganni was an up-and-coming priest and secretary to Paulos Faraj Rahho, the local bishop of the Chaldean Church, Iraq's largest Christian community. He also had a fine singing voice. His studies in Rome at the Pontifical Irish College had given him an international perspective, a knowledge of six languages and a great love of Ireland, almost a second country for him. Indeed, he was known as "Paddy the Iraqi".

But after completing his studies in 2003, Ganni had chosen to return to his homeland soon after US-led forces had ousted Saddam Hussein. "That is where I belong, that is my place," he had told his friends.

Ganni was born and grew up in northern Iraq. After graduating in engineering from Mosul University in 1993, he decided to train for the priesthood. Seeing his promise, his bishop sent him in 1996 to Rome to the Irish College, and he gained a licentiate in Ecumenical Theology from the Angelicum University. He was ordained priest in the Chaldean Rite in 2001, but remained in Rome to complete his studies for another two years. In homage to Irish spirituality - and to earn some money during the seminary holidays - Ganni had worked during several summers at the Catholic shrine at Lough Derg in Donegal.

Ganni was at first optimistic over his country's future after the ousting of Saddam. But by 2004 life was becoming difficult. The worsening situation for Mosul's Christians led Ganni last year to delay his planned return to Rome to begin a doctorate. His most recent messages were despairing. "We are on the verge of collapse," Ganni told the Catholic agency Asia News a week before his murder.

In a sectarian and confessional Iraq, will there be any space for Christians? We have no support, no group who fights for our cause; we are abandoned in the midst of this disaster. Iraq has already been divided; it will never be the same. What is the future of our Church? Today it can barely be traced.

According to an official source, four civilians was murdered in Mosul by unknown gunmen in two separate incidents. Three of them were killed in Al-Sina'a district and the fourth in Al-Arabi district.

An armed gang assassinated yesterday Mr Ismail Mahmood, one of the dignitaries of the Juboor tribe in the village of Aski Mosul, 45Km north west of the City of Mosul according to eye witnesses. The motive behind the killing is unknown.

وعلى صعيد متصل علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون بمقتل مواطنين أثنين اليوم الأربعاء 13/6 وأضاف المصدر أن أحد المواطنين يدعى أحمد عبد الجبار مدني قتلته القوات الأمريكية قرب الجسر الرابع دون سبب يذكر والأخر هو الطالب حميد إبراهيم وهو طالب في كلية الآداب قسم الترجمة قتل على يد مسلحين مجهولين عصر هذا اليوم في منطقة البورصة وسط مدينة الموصل.

According to a source in Nineveh Police, two civilians were killed in two separate incidents in Mosul today 12/6/2007. Iraqi Army finds a factory for explosive devices and suicidal belts in Mosul.
According to a source in Nineveh Police, the Fourth Regiment of the Second Davison of the Iraqi Army discovered a factory for manufacturing explosive devices inside a sweet factory in Left Bank Industrial Zone in Mosul. Large quantities of explosive devices and TNT were found inside the building.

Five civilians killed in Mosul today 10/6/2007
An official source in Nineveh Police stated that 5 civilians were killed today 10/6/2007. 
One of the victims was a civiian called Najm Fethi Abdalla was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Mosul Al-Jadida district, south of Mosul.
The other is Sulaiman ABdalla Medini who was assassinated near Bawabet AL-Sham (Sham Gate) west of Mosul.
The third is a civilian whose identity is unknown and was assassinated, also by unknown gunmen, in Al-Bakr district, east of Mosul.
The other two were assassinated in Al-Jazai'er district, east of Mosul, their identities also unknown.

In another incident and according to eyewitnesses, clashes took place between unknown gunmen and the police in Al-Masarif district, north west of Mosul this afternoon.

An official source in Nineveh Police announce that the Police succeeded in killing two suicide bombers and destroying their car which was loaded with a bomb today Saturday 9/6/2006. The car was targeting the headquarters of the Third Regiment of the Fourth Division of the Iraqi Army in Al-Intisar district, west of Mosul. The civilian casualties reported from the explosion was 2 dead, 7 injured.

A car bomb driven by a suicide bomber exploded today Saturday 9/6/2007 in Al-Karama district roads, east of City of Mosul near Abdul-Rahman Al-Ghafiki School. Several casualties and considerable material losses were reported.

The departure of the Artist Najib Younis
The famous Mosuli artist Najib Younis died last evening, Friday 8 June 2007 at the age of 77 years after a long illness  His work has gained an international fame and his paintings have been exhibited worldwide. He was born in Mosul in 1930. He depicted Mosul and its culture, history and Civilisation and is considered on of the leading figures of the contemporary Iraqi art which included: Faiq Hasan, Jawad Saleem, Nuri Al-Rawi, Khaled Al-Rahhal, and Dhirar Al-Qaddo.

The Iraq Flag flies on North Kurdistan once again.
According to informed sources at the Iraqi Turkish borders that the Local Kurdish Authorities has brought down the Kurdistan Flag and replace it with the Iraqi Flag. It has been thought that this was an attempt by the Kurdish Authorities to regain Iraq's support to stop Turkey from penetrating deep into the Kurdish territories. Turkish Authorities had doubted whether the Iraqi Flag will ever be flown again in the Norhtern Iraqi territories.

One of the devices exploded on s on a National Guard patrol unit near the railway in Bab Sinjar, right bank of Mosul. The score of the casualties in not known yet as a result of the security seal of the area.  A second device exploded on a police patrol without causing any casualties.

كما علمت وكالة أنباء عراقيون من شهود عيان أن سيارة مفخخة يقودها إنتحاري إنفجرت اليوم السبت 9/6 في أزقة حي الكرامة شرق مدينة الموصل بالقرب من مدرسة عبد الرحمان الغافقي مما أدى إلى وقوع عدد من الضحايا وخسائر وأضرار مادية كبيرة.

Armed confrontation in Mosul
Clashes between two armed groups was reported by a source in Nineveh Police today 8/6/2007. The fire exchanges took place in Al-Fadhliya district, 15Km west of Tellaafer Borough. Seven gunmen were reported to be killed. The reason for this is not known.

Two car bombs in Rabi'a District, Nineveh.  Five British nationals dead
Two car bombs exploded on the district of Rabie'a 120km north west of Mosul on the Syrian borders. The first bomb targeted the District's police directorate and the second a US military barracks. Preliminary number of casualties in this accident was estimated to be 8 injured civilians, according to Brigadier Mohamed Al-Waggaa', Commander of Nineveh's Police in Mosul.

انفجرت اليوم الخميس7حزيران سيارتين مفخختين في ناحية ربيعة الحدودية (120كم) شمال غرب الموصل.استهدفت السيارة الأولى مديرية شرطة الناحية والأخرى ثكنة عسكرية تابعة للقوات الأمريكية وأسفر الحادث عن إصابة 8مدنيين بجروح كحصيلة اولية بحسب العميد محمد الوكاع نائب مدير شرطة نينوى. على صعيد متصل عثرت قوات الجيش على مخبأ للأسلحة والأعتدة في منطقة الخويت 80كم غرب الموصل. ولقيت الصحفية سحر الحيدري مصرعها في حي الحدباء شمال شرق الموصل،هذا ويذكر أن الصحفية كانت تعمل مراسلة لوكالة أصوات العراق.

According to a source in Mosul Police, US army found a workshop where car bombs are installed. The workshop is situated in the Industrial Zone of Wadi Iqab area, right bank of Mosul.

Bodies thrown on the side of the road in Mosul
Eyewitnesses today conformed that they saw today, Tuesday 5/6/2007, a body on the side of the road in Al-Muharibeen district, north east of Mosul. They bodies were thrown by gunmen in a car this afternoon. They car drove to unknown destination.

According to eyewitnesses, a driver of a red station wagon wearing a white cloth (dishdasha) was killed today 5/6/2007 near the electricity generator in Al-Karama district, east part of Mosul. The car exploded on police patrol when they arrived to the scene trying to remove the body from the car. Details of casualties are unknown yet because of the security measures taken afterward.

A disfigured body was seen by eyewitnesses on the side of the road in Mosul Al-Jadeeda near Abo-Alyesi roundabout. The body was almost naked and covered by cardboard..

In another incident, police patrol killed 2 gunmen in clashes in AL-Risala district, west of Mosul. One of the dead was named Abdul Majeed Omar Ali nicknamed as Abu-Obaida, and was a Saudi national, according to a source in Nineveh Police.

Killing of a priest and three of his aids
According to a source in Nineveh Police that Father Ragheed Aziz and three of his aids from Rooh Al-Quddos (The Holly Ghost) Church in in Al-Ikhaa' district, east part of the city, were assassinated this evening Sunday 3/6/2007 at 6.30pm. The four victims were killed when they were leaving the church.

A teenager killed in Mosul today.
According to eye witnesses, a young man in his late teens was killed in front of Thiyab Al-Iraqi Mosque in Mosul. The victim was forced out of the blue Brazili VW Passat a car which he was driving and shot in front of the crowd.

Murder of three youngsters, a police and a family in Mosul
The bodies of 3 youngsters aged 16-22 years and a policeman were found on the side of the road today Saturday 2/6/2007 at the Muthanna Crossings north east of Mosul according to an official statement by the Hospital of Forensic Medicine in Mosul. The victims had been killed by bullets in the head and chest. Al the victims remain unidentified and had been killed by bullets in the head and chest. According to eyewitness, the four bodies were dropped in the afternoon by a car at the above crossings. One of the bodies was a woman wearing a patterned shirt and skirt and the face of one of the men had been disfigured.

مقتل ثلاثة فتيان تتراوح أعمارهم بين 16- 22 سنة اليوم السبت الموافق2 حزيران 2007 ،وأكد شهود عيان بان الجثث ملقاة قرب تقاطع المثنى شمال شرق مدينة الموصل.كما صرح مسؤول في مستشفى الطب العدلي استلام تلك الجثث بعد ظهر اليوم وهي جثث مجهولة الهوية إضافة الى جثة رابعة تعود الى شرطي ،وأضاف المصدر:ان الجثث جميعا مصابة بإطلاقات نارية في الرأس والصدر.وفي السياق ذاته أكد شهود عيان بان سيارة قد رمت أربعة جثث عصر اليوم في تقاطع المثنى أيضا وإحدى الجثث تعود الى امرأة ترتدي تنورة وقميص مزركش بينما الجثث الأخرى لرجال إحداها مشوهة الوجه.

According to an official source in Nineveh Police, several men in two cars were arrested today 1/6/2007. Inside the boot of one car was a kidnapped man who was release instantly. The source added that the kidnapers heading to Somer district on the left bank of Mosul.

Armed confrontation and a car bomb in Mosul Today 1/6/2007
According to eyewitnesses and official sources, there was an armed confrontation between gunmen and police this morning, Friday 1 June 2007  in Al-Zuhour residential area, east bank of Mosul. One policeman was killed in the clashes.

In another incident, a car bomb exploded last Thursday evening (31/5/2007) targeting a US Army convoy. Three civilians were wounded but the extent of damage among the US forces is not known because of the instant security measures taken after the incident.
